Time of past OR future Camino
Cairo Egypt
Hello,
I am flying from San Francisco, with Iberia to Madrid, then taking a flight from Madrid to Cairo. Both flights are with Iberia. Two separate tickets with 2 hours and 10 minutes to do so. No luggage, carry on only. I have a few questions and I need help! Please.

1. Is there enough time?
2. Do I have to go through immigration twice? Once entering and then leaving or is it just once?

Thank you very much in advance.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
If there are no delays or changes of schedules I think it should be okay. I would like a few more hours with an unprotected connection.

If you don't have to change terminal, I don't think you will go through immigration at all in Madrid, as you will not leave the airport secure area.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I agree with Molly - you’re not actually entering ‘Spain’ and should stay airside through transit provided that you’re already checked in for your second flight

Personally I’d check that direct with Iberia. If it were a through-ticket it would be their problem that you make the connection; but as you already appreciate, it isn’t.

The minimum connecting time in Madrid for international flights is published as 60 minutes. You are an international transit passenger, so are not required to go through immigration s or customs.

Hopefully, there won’t be any additional security, either, but Egypt flights may have additional requirements.

Are they still considered to be an international transit passenger when they don't have connecting flights?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
But minimum connection times are for itineraries with protected connections, i.e., all flights booked in one ticket. In the OP's case, if they miss the flight to Cairo they will have to purchase a new ticket.

Also, this isn't a Camino related question.

@Traveler89 I'm not sure why you have joined a forum for those who are interested in walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain to ask a non Camino related travel question. I recommend checking out the TripAdvisor Air Travel forum.

The FlyerTalk forum might also be a more suitable platform for such a question:
