Wool socks

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Which brand are you looking at? What percentage is wool and what is it mixed with?
I like merino wool with a touch of synthetic to give it strength and elasticity. It’s real important to buy socks first then shop for shoes with those socks , then when the shoes are comfortable buy a whole size larger , cause your feet will swell .

I purchased Icebreaker brand of socks. They were very comfy and breathable with Merico wool. 63% Merino Wool, 35% Nylon, 2% LYCRA®.

I often hear the advice to buy shoes a size larger. I walked the CF with my wife in April and May, averaging about 14 miles a day, and my feet didn’t swell like that at all, nor did my wife’s. If I’d bought shoes a size larger, I would have been slipping around in them uncomfortably. As it was, neither of us had blisters, foot pain, or crowding in our shoes. As with many such things, I suspect this is a case of “different strokes for different folks.” Best to consistently walk long distances daily before the Camino (if possible) and see what your feet prefer.

I haven't tried those, sorry. I'm a fan of Darn Tough, they're pricey but have a life time warranty which I think makes up for it. Try various thicknesses to see which suits you better.

Have you looked at Bamboo socks?
Sustainable, antibacterial and anti-fungal.
I use the tees for longer cycling trips that may or may not include wild camping.

Has anyone tried the wool socks at Decathlon stores in Portugal (Lisbon) ?
I bought the only wool socks I could find at a Decathlon after walking in rain and wet feet all day and my laundry wasn't drying every night due to the weather so I had no dry socks to change into. They were OK. I wouldn't consider them the same quality as the Darn Tough and injinji merino wool socks I usually bring - but didn't have any issues with them. They lasted the next few weeks and I still own them - but don't use them as my first choice.
