The Camino weather in October?

I wonder if any regular Peregrinos could please tell me what kind of weather I can expect on the Camino in October.
I've checked a few weather sites but I'd feel better informed with some advice from anyone who has travelled on the Camino in October. I walked the Camino Frances last year in July/August but I think I'll need to pack my wet weather gear.

If you are lucky the weather and be pleasant, dry and warm (at least during the day) until mid-November. If you are unlucky, it rains the whole time ;-) Klima is what you can expect, weather is what you get, as the saying goes. Buen Camino, SY

When I walked in the Fall of 2015, the weather was mostly pleasant but we did get a fair bit of rain in Galicia. We also had some near freezing morning temps as we got further into October.

Pack thermals and a sleeping bag. Take gloves and a beanie plus a few layers and provided you have good (wind proof) rain gear all should well. I walked in snow and rain at the beginning April and it was perfectly fine because I had all of the above. I should add I was jolly scared before I started out because I am not used to snow. I've also walked end September and it was nowhere near as cold as the beginning of April. Chances are a good set of rain gear and a good set of thermals will see you comfortably though October on the Frances.

Prepare for cold evenings. Take a bag some albergues do not turn on heat or have blankets. A nice pair of gloves keep hands warm in early morning chill.

2016 was lovely but it always is best to be prepared ... last year mid sept to mid October ... hot first few weeks then getting cooler , early mornings colder which I enjoyed , only a few days of rain
HOWEVER one can never predetermine the weather based on past events ....

Thanks for that, I live on the Pennines so I'm used to rain and snow. Unfortunately I have Addisons Disease which suppresses my immune system,so taking the proper gear is essential. Last year I went to Lourdes and set off from there on my first Camino and when I finished in Santiago I was ready for a few days in bed.
I didn't mention that I'm 68, so unfortunately I can't carry as much gear as I did when I was younger and although usually a gregarious person I prefer the beauty and silence of walking alone on the Camino. Many thanks for your advice. God bless.

Sorry but you are never going to get a definitive answer.
1) You ask for a period of 31 days in a period which is known to be very changeable.
2) You do not say which part of the Camino Frances you are walking.
3) The weather is totally unpredictable in Spain.
4) Our crystal balls are not working at the moment.

Just pack layers. Plus some sun location just in case.

Be prepared for anything. I walk the Camino Frances twice in October. The first time it was very hot on the Meseta. Around 90 almost every day. And I had snow in one day of freezing rain in Galicia. The second time it was pouring hard rain and 30 mile an hour wind on the Meseta for 4 or
5 days and hardly any rain in Galecia. So just be prepared for anything. But my advice is don't worry about it The only thing that matters is the step you're taking each moment. He. Camino

I didn't ask for a specific answers only tips from experienced walker ,some have been really informative such as pack thermals,gloves and a beanie hat. I'm doing the whole Camino, I walked it in July/ August last year and it was very Hot but there was still rain in Santiago. As for crystal balls...............we'll just leave that I think. Well, the water proof socks go back into the pack. Snow, not good. It's been 30+ yrs since I have seen snow.

We are walking slowly from St Jean on 9/9 to Santiago with a projected date around 10/30. I know I need layers that work from hot to very cold. Cold is under 70F for me.

Walked twice from September into October. Apart from one night in Santiago mid October that was a bit chilly, The weather was grand. I am only talking about up to mid October though. I dont have any experience of late October but I am told the weather is still fine to about mid November

I was really cold in late October 2009. It just depends on the year. I looked up the average temperature for Burgos in October - it is 10.9 C to 16.5 C. November is 6.2 C to 10.7 C.

Hi Denny. I just read through all this feedback to your question from last year. And I was curious as to how you got on and what sorts of weather you had during October. You may have answered elsewhere but I wouldn’t know how to find that so please forgive if you already did this. I am planning to do the Frances with either a mid September start or more towards the end. Either way I’ll still be walking most of October. I like a spot of company but also love my own space so if the albergues are quieter then, that will be just perfect.

Most of the time the weather was ok I hit a few showers and it was cold in the early mornings but that's part of the Camino. I'm like you, I prefer to walk alone but you will meet some great people on the way.
It's definitely worth doing and don't forget to get 2 stamps per day on the last hundred kilometers. Have a great time and enjoy yourself. Buen Camino.( my feet are getting itchy,so you never know,if you see a Geordie on the Camino it could be me. God bless)
