Getting from Salamanca to Sarria

My husband and I will be traveling from Salamanca to Sarria on June 23rd and begin our walk on June 24th. What is the most direct route? We're open to renting a car just for a day - is there a drop off near Sarria?

Yikes - these travel questions challenge my poor geography and knowledge of the transport links available! Ivar is the expert so I'll PM for you.

I'd have thought that the best route may be via Lugo - have alook at one that was prepared earlier so to speak:

Hi Katie,

If you are open to renting a car, I would get it from Salamanca and return it in Lugo. (I don't think you can return it in Sarria). Then from Lugo take the bus to Sarria. Lugo is about 43km away.

I drove from Salamanca a few months ago, and it is a very comfortable drive (4 lane highway, 2 each way, all the way).

Good question. There is one bus on June 23rd between Salamanca and Lugo.

Leaves Salamanca 05.55, arrives Lugo 11:15. It is €25,50 per person.
