What do I need to do when I get to SJPDP, do I need to still go and register somewhere or can I just begin walking now?
You don't need to register at any point on any Camino, not even in Santiago unless you want to obtain Compostela. But for that you need to collect stamps once a day and twice a day beyond Sarria. Usually the Office in SdC don't complicate if you have just one per day from Sarria on if it's evident that you walked a long way, like from SJPdP.
But in SJPdP it's still good to register in pilgrim office. If not for the statistics then for the latest news about weather etc. on the first stage.

Have a nice Camino!

Hi @Mike Maher, when you arrive in SJPDP go the Pilgrims Office and get your first stamp (sello), the people there will provide you with basic but useful information, register you as starting from there - a statistical collection of data not a legal requirement - and a map showing the way to Valcarlos should you opt to walk that route instead of the Napoleon. You could start walking straight away and I believe that some albergues in the town also have stamps for your credencial, but it seems that most pilgrims like to get the SJJP Pilgrims Office stamp. Buen Camino!
