New, Muslim (sufi) & looking for others & advice

Good day to you all,
What a wonderful site.
I read about this pilgrim route years ago & like many others have been wanting to do this for a long while.
I have finally plucked up the courage to do this & have a few reservations. (I'm only human!)

Are there any muslims out there or Sufi's that have or will be travellng this route, it would be lovely to combine the two faiths & the spiritual input of both- lucky me (as they originally were) & travel with that force in heart & mind. If not, it doesn't matter. I'll be a token lone ranger!

I think combining the spirituality of sufism & the pilgrim route would be amazing, it doesnt matter what faith you are as long as you're on a path to something that is good & are inspired by this your path to that is irrelevant (but not feeling such an odd ball would be nice hense asking if there are any others)

I'm traveling in from London & have 2 weeks in June some time, where would be the best place to start given that I only have two weeks that would enable me to take in & benefit most from the route.

I have no idea on where to stay, how to get there & who to go with (if anyone) what I do know is it is something I would love to do - where there is a will there is a way!

Any tips, advice or ear-bending would be greatly appreciated.
Other than pack ugg boots, a large stash of ciggarettes & gum oh & my magic wand!

Love & light

Baseerah - I have a DVD video called St Jacques le Mecque - French with English sub-titles - which is about a group of dysfunctional people walking the camino from Le Puy. One is a Muslim boy who has been conned into walking by his friend who told him and his family that they are walking to Santiago de Mecca!
With two weeks walking you could fly to Valladolid on Ryanair from Stansted and then get a bus to Leon which is about 312kms from Santiago or to Astorga 260km from Santiago.

Doll.
Im cracking up at the Santiago to Mecca- how funny is that!

Thats surely puts the FUN element into dysFUNctional!

Thankyou kindly for you advice & links.

Im going to get me a T-shirt saying Santiago to Mecca THIS WAY with a massive smiley on it
- whaddya reckon!

There are not a lot of Muslims on the Camino, but there are some. Last year a small group came through and stopped to make their prayers in our Plaza. It was a lovely thing to see, and it can´t have been the first time, here in a pueblo called "Little Town of the Moors."

There seem to be a goodly number of French/Algerians the last year or so.

Baseerah,

I am walking from Burgos to Ponferrada in June.

I get the 13.30 eurostar to Paris on the 2/06 and the overnight train from Paris to Burgos arriving at 5.20.

I will start walking straight away and on the 16/06 I hope to be in Ponferrada and get the train back to Burgos for the journey home arriving back in London at 11.30 on the 17/06 .

I have done it before it is an easy and straight forward run leaving home after lunch and walking early next morning.

Peregrinos por la convivencia

My Galician friend remembered this:
http://www.lavozdegalicia.es/hemeroteca ... 8674.shtml
Buen Camino!
Enjoy!
