What time to leave SJPP

Hi will be arriving in SJPP at the end of the week and have one night at L’Esprit du Chemin and the next night in Orisson - what would be best? Have a look around SJPP have lunch then head off - or head off in the morning?

Cheers
David

If it is a nice sunny morning, I would head off when the sun comes up. The weather changes quickly and it would be nice to have clear views. You could always walk back down to St Jean (only 8kms!) if you wanted to spend more time there and then get a taxi back up the hill!

I'll take the other side of the coin - fully enjoy SJPP and then start at your leisure once you've had breakfast and seen what you want to see around town. The center of SJPP is pretty compact, and you'll be done with your self-guided tour in an hour or so. The walk to Orisson is a steep 8 km, but it will still only take you a couple of hours of actual walking time. Plus, there are more food choices in SJPP, so I'd eat lunch there.

But do throw all this aside if the weather forecast is for inclement weather or unclear skies in the afternoon; the views are that stunning.

In other words, just do what feels right when the time comes...!

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
The weather forecast for the next three days is: Tuesday - possible thunderstorm: Wednesday - drizzle: Thursday - drizzle and rain:
Pamplona - from Friday for seven days - Hot!! 32oC, 30oC, 30oC, 29oC, 30oC - get out the sunscreen!

Wait until after lunch, it's only a few hours' walk and you will have nothing to do once you arrive in Orisson.
