Where to stay in St Jean?

Hello All!

Any tips on where to stay in St. jean? We will have two children so there are four of us. Hoping to stay in something hotel like the first night in order to make sure that we are well rested and prepared for our trip.

Buen Camino,
Mandy :D

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
If you are watching your pennies, you could stay at the Gite Compostela.

It is very basic but reasonable and they might have a room with 4 beds so that you can all sleep in the same room.

The people at the Compostela office will direct you to places too. They'll cal ahead for you to make sure there is space and find out the price for you too.

Mandy, don't forget to book ahead at Orisson as well.

Either that, or you can walk to Orisson (8km) get a taxi back to the Gite and then get a taxi back to Orisson in the morning.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Mandy,

In Saint-Jean the office for the Amies du Chemin de Saint Jacques at 39 rue de la Citadelle usually stays open until 10pm in season. Their telephone is 05 59 37 05 09. They provide pilgrim Credentials.

Buen Camino ,

I tried to make a reservation for 14 September 2014 (Sunday) at the L'Esrrit de Bellari (previously L'Espret du Chemin) in SJPDP but they replied that they are closed on Sunday.

Does anyone else have a recommendation? The website for the Alburque Acceuil Pelerin is difficult for me to interpret and it doesn't look like there is a 'contact' link to make a reservation.

JanetEllen,

In SJPdP the Albergue Accueil Pelerin is the municipal albergue at 55 rue de La Citadelle and does NOT take reservations.

The pilgrims office of the Amis du Chemin de Saint Jacques at 39 rue de la Citadelle usually stays open for the arrival of the last train. Their telephone is 05 59 37 05 09. In season the pilgrims office is open from 7h30 to 12h30 and then from 13h30 to 22h. They can provide you with a Credential and on site lodging assistance. Their volunteers also help run the municipal albergue/Accueil Pelerin at 55 rue de la Citadelle. If their albergue is full they will help you find other pilgrim lodgings when you are on site. They keep up to the minute lists of all available space throughout the SJPdP area.

Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Well sorry for the long absence! I dropped offline and into Camino life and can't wait to go back (but unfortunately it won't be soon)! I won't say the Camino was an easy experience for me, or...
Hi all. I will be walking the Camino Frances in September ( I started in Le Puy in 2022 and will “finish” this year!) and hope to stay at the ALBERGUE Peregrinos Ribadiso around September 21. I’m...
Hi all. I’m sitting in the sun on this spectacular day in the Pyrenees at the statue of Mary and Jesus. A glorious day. Thank you to all the weather Gods. Perhaps June / July are the best walking...
If you take the route to Ventosa after Navarette there is a brand new bar/cafe I highly recommend. They've been open 4 days as of today June 12 . A local bee keeper started it and it is great...
Just got to Rabanal. Started May 20. It is not crowded. No traffic jams or conga lines. But I’m not here to argue about “crowd” hysteria—I’ve done that enough over the last few years and likely...
