Dear pilgrims;

I had the chance to have long conversations with David in 2009 and 2013 in his refreshment stand about 3km before San Just de la Vega and 6km before Astorga...

One good friend of mine who just arrived in Santiago this morning has told me he has moved to another location but she couldnt find out where David has moved to.

Does anyone know where David is at the moment? Seems like that I`ll be able to walk the walk again in december ( Yaaaaaaay! Just a few more days to confirm) and I`d love to stop by and have a chat with him (pretty sure he doesnt have facebook account :p)

Thank you guys!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

He was still there May 2015. And I heard someone had bought the property for him. A charity ?

I guess this friend walked by David's former stand let's say two weeks ago and he wasn't there. So it doesn't really matter if anybody saw David last year or year before that ;)

David's full name is David Vidal Figuls. Perhaps searching on the net might locate his present location. Another possibility would be to ask in Astorga regarding the present state of his nearby Casa de los Dioses.
....Wherever he may be I wish him well; he was always such a generous and thoughtful host at his Casa.

Yes... The information is that he has moved to another location.

My friend couldn't tell if he moved to another village, or somewhere close by.

But this is a "fresh" information as she might have passed the former location 1,5 weeks ago...

I'm sure soon enough someone will post here about his whereabouts.

Buenos camino to you all! ;)

The Swiss/Austrian, I think, couple who own the trekking equipment shop in Astorga will probably know.

He is in the place that the guidebook said he would be at. Was there less than a week ago.

Thanks very much!

I guess my friend received a wrong information from someone when she was there....

Sorry everyone for the wrong news!

So he is in the same place then? Please confirm if the information given to me by my friend is wrong :p

David is still there. He now shares the place with his girlfriend Suzanne. I saw and spoke to both of them in mid April 2016. This is truly a Camino Oasis.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
We definitely saw him July 31, 2016 but I heard from someone in our local "Friends of the Camino" group a week or or so ago that he had given up his stand to start a more normal life. I'm glad to see he is still there.
