Albergues in August

Plan to walk in August.(2017)
Hello,

I am setting off for my first camino on August 8th, 2017 from SJPP. I understand this is the busiest time of year so I was wondering how hard it's going to be to get beds in albergues. I am naturally an early riser and a fast walker. Will this be enough, or is there some other precautions I should be taking if I want to ensure that I get a bed every night?

Gracias,
Max FarAway

The real bottleneck is between SJPdP and Pamplona as beds are limited, after that things even out as there are more albergues. I would consider booking the first two nights (especially if you want to stay in Orrisson!) and then perhaps call ahead the day before until you reach Pamplona. After Pamplona, especially if you don't follow the typical stages, things will be a bit quieter.
Buen Camino, SY

Orrisson is a 'must book' if you choose to stay there. After Sarria it gets busy so plan ahead.
Otherwise, I have found most of the albergues EMPTY until at least ponferrada. That was starting mid-July, arriving SdC 15 August.
I feel I have been walking a parallel Camino. Where is Mark Lee when I need him?!
Anyone else who walked the CF in July/August ???

@domigee I think less people from outside Spain walk from SJPDP in July August because of the heat. Even so my experience last year in May was similar to yours. Lots of posts on the forum about difficulty finding accommodation and having to race, and I had no problems at all. Maybe because I always stop walking by about 2pm.

Yes, where is Mark Lee?

OP, above suggestions are good to follow. Also, look to threads on forum for lodging suggestions to enhance your pilgrimage. Enjoy. August is hot do watch out.
Buen camino.

I, too, have wondered what happened to Mark Lee. I inquired about him to one of the moderators, but have had no response.

I can only find him as Mark Lee (guest) so I guess he checked out and sign in again as guest. I found his posts from March this year and can not see his last forum presence. I miss his posts too!

Last February after only two weeks as a forum member my avatar was changed to a "question mark" symbol and I was listed as a "guest" like Mark Lee. I was locked out as my password would no longer work. Totally confused me. Finally got hold of Ivar two weeks later through his store email address and he said to re-sign up and start over..it worked. The forum rules say you can only have one membership, so I'd been hesitent to do this without permission. It was all very weird. Maybe this same thing has possibly happened to Mark.
