Hey pilgrims, I wanted to let you know that I will begin walking barefoot this Monday from Ponferrada to Santiago, while guiding a group of pilgrims along the way. (they will wear boots/shoes) I'll post occasionally here and on Facebook on My Camino. Will do a talk in Santiago on June 2 at to share my experiences with others and give back to the way. Everyone is welcome. Love and light, Sue.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Have a good walk Sue! I'll be leading a group of not-so-able pilgrims from Sarria in May next year so you might be the prefect person to let me know where the most difficult sections of the path are for people with mobility problems!

Is it OK if we start a betting pool on how long the bare feet last? :D :D

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Buen Camino and Good Luck!

Day 2 in Trabadelo. Feet are a little tender (balls of feet) but doing ok. Gorgeous weather. Sunny and warm. Cebreiro tomorrow. My favourite place in the world. Hugs from the way.
Sue
ps go for the betting pool if you want!

Go well Sue.
I remember that rocky, river boulder, ankle-snapping, gravel pit of a road up to Cebreiro and don't envy you and your bare feet at all!!
If you break skin, please put on socks - at least - to prevent infection from cow shit and other unspeakables on the path!

I have $1 (Canadian, if need be) that Sue makes it to the Cathedral on bare feet. After this story, I am not underestimating the highly motivated:
Mountain climber Jon Kedrowski was one of the lucky ones. He didn't make it to the top of Mount Everest last weekend, but he made it back alive -- and told a harrowing tale of how severe weather trapped several climbers and left at least 4 dead.

The weather and overcrowding at the tallest peak made for a frightening scene after climbers attempted to use a brief window of good weather in an otherwise poor climbing season.

"I counted four people that had either died that evening or probably got disoriented or basically passed out from their summit attempts on the 19th." Kedrowski of Colorado told Fox affiliate KDVR.
He counted the people instead of helping them, so he could continue the climb. THAT is motivation!

Well, some people use albergues, others book paradores. Some use both. Some people are motivated to single pilgrimages others come back time and again. Crocs, baseballboots, barefeet, flip flops, mountain boots, walking shoes and even slippers...we see them all in the Pilgrims' Office...and you know what? Pilgrimage opens hearts to goodness for others it seems it makes them more cynical but we can rest assured that St James welcomes them all and never bets on their success or failure.

Another Crazy Canuck.

Your first responsibility is to the group you are leading.
Don't let the shoes / no shoes detract from your care and attention to them.

Buen Camino,
David, Victoria, Canada.
