I hope to start my first Camino in Baiona next year. I am coming from USA and would like to know the best way to get to Baiona. Fares are cheaper for me to fly into Madrid than Porto, but I will consider either option. Need advice on getting to Baiona once I land - train? bus? plane? all three? Many thanks!

We went through Porto. Two buses (Porto to Vigo, Vigo to Baiona). I have posted the full info with timetable somewhere in the forum

Yes! We took the 10h15 bus to Vigo from Porto in Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, it's a yellow one, named Autna, was half hour late and made us a bit nervous, but it always passes there, just wait by the sidewalk. Bought the ticket on the bar in front with the lovely Brazilian waiter.
Then on Vigo station, downstairs at stops 9, 10, 11 and 12, I think, at 15h30 we took the bus to Baiona. The info guy there did not speak English, so a few words in Galician/Spanish will be useful

On the Vigo bus station, there's bus that goes to Baiona. It's on stops 10, 11, 12, downstairs. You just arrive on time to your bus and pay to the driver. It was something like €3. There's no need to book, the bus has plenty of seats but it gets full while picking up people at the many stops of Vigo. There are many stops in Baiona by the sea front so it's very easy to get it near the hotels.View attachment 62118

We started our Camino walk from Baiona in September. However we flew from Paris to Porto. We took the bus from the airport to the historic centre. The train station is located right in to Historic centre. It only cost 11 Euros to Vigo , than hoped a city bus to Baiona for approx 2 euros. I think we ended up taking a Vigo cab from the train station to the bus station which was not too expensive.

Whatever route you choose - have an extra day in Baiona to help recover from your journey. There is plenty to see and do there. The Tourist Office is very helpful.
